Backup SRM Data
The sales recording module (SRM) stored data such as information about the bills it produced.
As with your establishment's other records, you are responsible for keeping your SRM data. It is important that you make a backup copy of the data stored on all your SRMs.
To find out how to backup your data, see the SRM User Guide (IN-577-V) or watch the following how-to videos (in French only): Faire une copie de sauvegarde – MEV and Faire une copie de données ‒ MEV.
You must keep your SRM data in a safe place with your establishment's other accounting records for six years after the year they cover. You must also keep supporting documents for any adjusted or cancelled transactions (for example, discount coupons).
You cannot keep an SRM as an accounting system. For security reasons, most of them stopped working in August 2025. As a result, you must make a backup copy of the data stored on all your SRMs.
