Other Unclaimed Property
In addition to financial assets and succession property, we also provisionally administer unclaimed property such as:
- property from dissolved legal persons
- abandoned property and property without an owner
- property for which the owner or right-holder is unknown or untraceable
This can be movable or immovable property.
Movable property
We provisionally administer the following types of movable property:
- property found on an unclaimed body (valuables, money, etc.)
- property deposited or abandoned in a detention centre or a healthcare establishment that is not claimed within one year after the owner's departure or death
- abandoned property and property without an owner (jewellery, tools, bicycles, etc.)
- vehicles abandoned on private property or a public road (in accordance with section 393 of the Highway Safety Code)
Immovable property
We provisionally administer unclaimed immovable property such as:
- streets
- alleyways
- plots of land
- buildings
As a rule, the property's owners (or their heirs) are unknown or untraceable, or, in the case of legal persons, have been dissolved. The property may also be abandoned or without an owner, in which case it can be acquired under certain conditions by filing an application.
