Applying for Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses and Required Documents
You must apply for advance payments of the tax credit for childcare expenses for a given year by October 15 of that year.
Documents to submit
To avoid delays, submit all required documents, even if you already sent them for a previous application.
You must send recent documents showing that, at the time you applied for advance payments, one of the situations below applied to you.
We will also accept a document showing your spouse's situation.
You hold an office or employment (employee)
If you have employment income, submit a document showing that you are gainfully employed.
Required documents
Your situation
Submit a recent document providing your name and information about your employer, such as:
- a copy of a pay slip for a normal pay period (e.g. no parental leave);
- proof of employment from your employer.

Submit form TPZ-1029.8.F.A-V, Childcare Expenses Qualifying for the Tax Credit: Fees and Number of Days of Care, completed by the childcare provider or their representative.
Photocopy of birth certificate or attestation of birth
Submit one of the following documents if your application concerns childcare expenses for a child born after December 31, 2022:
- a photocopy of the birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l'état civil;
- a photocopy of the attestation of birth issued by the hospital where your child was born.
You carry on a business (or are self-employed)
If you have income from a business you run, submit a copy of one or more recent documents clearly proving your ties to the business.

Your situation
Submit a recent document that gives your name or the business's name and shows your relationship to the business, such as:
- a contract;
- a quote;
- a purchase or sales invoice.
In addition to the above documents, you can also submit the following:
- an advertisement;
- a business card;
- an excerpt from the Québec enterprise register.
You can submit a copy of a contract you signed last week that shows the work your business will carry out for a client in the coming months. By having a recent date and the name of your business on it, the contract establishes your ties to the business.
You could also submit a recent equipment purchase receipt that features your business number as well as a business card giving your name and business number. The receipt shows that you are actively carrying on the business, and the business card establishes the relationship between you and the business.

- a photocopy of the birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l'état civil;
- a photocopy of the attestation of birth issued by the hospital where your child was born.
You carry out research under a grant
If you received a grant for research or similar work, submit a copy of a recent document confirming that you actually received the grant.

Submit a recent document (such as a contract) with your name, the date and information about the business or organization funding your research.

You are looking for a job
If you are looking for a job on a full-time basis and must have someone look after your children as a result, submit a document proving that.

Submit a recent document that gives your name and explains your job-seeking efforts or proof that you are receiving employment insurance benefits (if applicable), such as:
- an employment insurance regular benefits statement;
- proof that you are taking part in an employment program (e.g. an Emploi-Québec program);
- a letter explaining the steps you have taken (e.g. the dates you gave out your résumé, the names of the businesses, the interviews you have had, the names of the people you met, etc.).

You are enrolled in an educational program
If you are attending an educational institution as a student enrolled in an educational program of at least three consecutive weeks on a full-time basis (at least 10 hours per week devoted to courses or assignments) or part-time basis (at least 12 hours per month devoted to courses only), you must submit a document proving that.

Submit a recent document giving your name, the name of the institution, your program and the time you devote to your studies, such as:
- a transcript or class schedule;
- proof of enrolment or attendance issued by the institution;
- proof of enrolment in French-language classes offered in partnership with the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration.

If you pay childcare expenses while you are on parental leave, submit proof that you are receiving parental benefits.

- a statement of benefits under the Québec parental insurance plan (QPIP);
- proof that you are receiving parental, maternity or other benefits.

Processing of your application
We generally determine the amount of the advance payments to which you may be entitled within 45 days of receiving your application.
You must be registered for direct deposit to receive advance payments.
