Social Programs – Information for New Residents of Canada

If you arrived in Canada during the year and you have been a Québec resident since December 31, you may be able to claim tax credits and deductions when you file your income tax return.

Your eligibility for the work premium tax credits and the solidarity tax credit will depend on your immigrant status.

During the year of your arrival, you could be entitled to advance payments of the tax credit for home-support services for seniors, subject to certain conditions. You must be a resident of Québec when you file your application. Depending on your immigrant status, you could also be entitled to:
