Shifting to the WEB-SRM in Your Restaurant Establishment
This page is for you if you operate a restaurant establishment and you're still using a physical sales recording module (SRM) in your establishment. The information will help you shift to the new cloud-based IT solution (the WEB-SRM).
- As of June 1, 2025, you're required to send us your transaction data using a certified sales recording system (SRS) compatible with the WEB-SRM and give every customer a bill produced using that SRS.
- If you're entitled to the exemption respecting restaurant establishments equipped with an SRM and whose certified SRS will be installed after May 31, 2025, you have until August 31, 2025, to install your certified SRS.
- If your establishment is currently equipped with an SRM and you aren't using a WEB-SRM-compatible certified SRS on June 1, 2025 (or September 1, 2025, if your establishment is covered by the above exemption), you'll be liable to penalties, fines and other sanctions.
Required equipment
Click Required Equipment to learn about the new IT solution and get more information on certified sales recording systems (SRSs) compatible with the WEB-SRM.
Authorization code
You must have an authorization code to configure the certified SRS(s) you'll use in your establishment to communicate with the WEB-SRM.
To simplify the shift to the WEB-SRM in all restaurant establishments, we sent authorization codes to operators who hadn't yet requested one. If you're registered for My Account for businesses, you can go to the communications centre to see the letter with your authorization code.
If you didn't receive your authorization code, contact us.
To learn how to configure your certified SRS(s), click Configuring the Sales Recording System.
Deactivating and reinitializing your SRMs
You're not required to deactivate or reinitialize the SRM(s) in your restaurant establishment in order to start using the WEB-SRM.
If you want to deactivate or reinitialize your SRM(s), you must do so after installing and configuring your new certified SRS(s).
Make sure to send at least one transaction with your certified SRS before disconnecting your SRM(s).
To learn more about deactivating and reinitializing SRMs, see IN-577-V, SRM User Guide.
SRM recycling program
We encourage you to use our simple, free and green SRM recycling program to safely destroy all confidential information in your SRMs.
Filing periodic sales summaries
You must produce and file all required sommaires périodiques des ventes (periodic sales summaries), including the one for the month you start using the new IT solution. The summary can only be produced as of the first day of the following month if the SRM has not been deactivated.
Making a backup copy of your data
You must make a backup copy of the data in your SRM(s) and keep it for six years after the last taxation year it concerns.
You cannot keep your SRM(s) for accounting purposes because most SRMs will stop working in August 2025. To learn more, see End of Life for Sales Recording Modules.
If you need help backing up data, see the SRM User Guide (IN-577-V) or watch this video (in French only): Faire une copie de sauvegarde – MEV.
