Application for a Licence and Decals – IFTA
Follow the steps below to apply for a licence and decals. You must have a pair of decals for each qualified motor vehicle used outside Québec but only one licence for all your vehicles.
- Download form CA-500-V, Application for an IFTA Licence and Decals.
- Complete the form onscreen.
- Print and sign the form.
- Enclose your payment (cheque or money order).
- Mail your application with payment to us.
The licence and decals will be mailed to you within two to four weeks.
Application for additional decals
To get additional decals:
- Download form CA-501-V, Application for IFTA Decals.
- Complete the form onscreen.
- Print and sign the form.
- Enclose your payment (cheque or money order).
- Mail your application with payment to us.
If all conditions are met, the additional decals will be mailed to you within two to four weeks.
To ensure that your application is processed as soon as possible, send form CA-500-V, Application for an IFTA Licence and Decals, or form CA-501-V, Application for IFTA Decals, to the Centre de traitement IFTA, at the address shown on the form, as soon as you purchase a qualified vehicle that will travel outside Québec. Be sure to enclose your payment and a copy of the purchase contract.
Do not wait until the vehicle is registered with the International Registration Plan (IRP) to send your application.
