Licence and Decals
If Québec is your base jurisdiction and you use one or more qualified motor vehicles to transport freight or passengers in and outside Québec, you need an IFTA licence and decals in order to travel in member jurisdictions.
The licence is valid from January 1 to December 31. You must keep a paper or electronic copy of it in each of your IFTA decaled vehicles.
However, you need a pair of decals for every qualified motor vehicle you use outside Québec. Affix one decal in plain sight on either side of the cab. For more specific instructions, see document CAR-503.E-V, Affixing IFTA Decals.
We suggest you record the identification number of each pair of decals and the vehicle they are affixed to.
If you travel outside Québec with a qualified motor vehicle and you do not have the required licence and decals, you may have to pay duties or a fine.
