Situations Limiting the Use of Solidarity Tax Credit Payments to Offset a Debt to the Government
If you receive payments of the solidarity tax credit and you owe a debt to the government, the Tax Administration Act allows us to use those payments to pay your debt.
However, if the family income used to determine the amount of the solidarity tax credit to which you are entitled is less than the maximum family income shown in the table below, we will use no more than 50% of the amount of each payment of the credit to pay your debt.
Payment period for the solidarity tax credit | Maximum family income (no more than 50% of the tax credit amount can be used to offset a debt to the government) |
---|---|
2022 taxation year – July 2023 to June 2024 | $23,750 |
2023 taxation year – July 2024 to June 2025 | $24,955 |
If you receive social assistance payments from the Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale, we will also use no more than 50% of the amount of each payment of the tax credit to pay your debt.
