Changes During the Year – Solidarity Tax Credit
Since the solidarity tax credit is based on your situation on December 31, 2023, you do not need to inform us of any changes in your situation during the year. You must, however, notify us if:
- you leave Québec permanently;
- you are confined to a prison or similar institution;
- your spouse dies.
Loss of entitlement to the credit
You are not entitled to receive the tax credit for a given month if, immediately before the first day of the month, you are no longer resident in Québec or are confined to a prison or similar institution. If such a situation arises after you claim the credit, call us.
In the case of a deceased person, we will stop paying the credit in the month following the death.
If your spouse received the tax credit for your couple and they are now confined to a prison or similar institution, you can receive the credit instead, provided you meet the conditions and claim it. For more information, contact us.
If your spouse received the tax credit for your couple and they die, you do not have to apply to continue receiving the credit amounts for the current payment period. Provided you meet the eligibility conditions, we will be able to pay the remaining amounts to you once we have received the information concerning the death.
