Residential care facility
Any residential facility where an individual intends to reside for an indefinite period and where the individual may receive property and services by reason of the room or suite the individual occupies.
Such property and services include, for example:
- meals
- housekeeping, laundry, security monitoring, nutritional and nursing care services
- transportation
- social, recreational, educational and religious services
- personal supervision
- personal care
- assistance with daily activities
The following facilities are considered residential care facilities:
- care homes
- personal care homes
- congregate housing
- assisted living facilities
- senior citizens' residences
- retirement homes
- nursing homes
- homes for the aged
Hospitals and mental health facilities are not considered residential care facilities.
