Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Caregivers
If you're a caregiver, you can receive monthly payments of the tax credit for caregivers if you meet all the eligibility conditions.
How to apply for advance payments
Online
You can apply for advance payments using the online service in My Account for individuals.
Form
You can also apply using form TPZ-1029.AN-V, Application for Advance Payments – Tax Credit for Caregivers. Mail the completed and signed application, along with the required documents, to the address on the form.
Splitting the tax credit
You can split the advance payments of the tax credit with other caregivers of the same care receiver if the following conditions are met:
- Each caregiver lives with the care receiver for a period of at least 90 days in 2026.
- Together, you and the other caregivers live with or provide care to the care receiver for a period of at least 365 consecutive days, including 183 days in 2026
Managing your advance payment file
You can use the online service for managing your advance payment file in My Account to:
- see your current and previous applications and track applications
- see your notices of determination
- apply for advance payments
- renew your application
- amend your application
- attach documents
RL-19 slip
You'll receive an RL-19 slip showing the total advance payments you received in the year. You must enter that amount in your 2026 tax return.
Cancelling or suspending advance payments
We can deny your application or suspend or cancel your advance payments if such action is warranted in light of information or documents brought to our attention.
If you apply for advance payments, you can only claim the additional amount for specialized respite services by completing Schedule H of your income tax return.
