A business with a standard profile has the following characteristics:

• They make taxable sales in Québec only.
• They may elect to use the Quick Method of Accounting. This election applies to both the GST/HST and QST systems and is made at the start of the fiscal period.
• They have carried on commercial activities for at least four consecutive quarters. 
• Their purchases and sales for the previous fiscal period are used to estimate those for the current fiscal period.
