Collection Notices
Collection notices show the amount you are required to pay. Interest, compounded daily at the rate set by law, will accrue on the amount until it is paid in full.
For information about a collection notice, call the number on the notice or see the Understanding Tax Debt Statements of Account page. The explanations given in the statement of account examples on that page answer the most frequently asked questions.
You must act after receiving a collection notice. Your cooperation is key if you want to avoid collection measures being taken against you.
In some cases, processing or collection fees may be added to the amount due. These fees are charged in accordance with tax legislation and bear interest at the prescribed rate.
