Different Fuel Tax Rates in Certain Regions
The fuel tax rate applicable to gasoline and non-coloured fuel oil (diesel) is reduced in certain regions of Québec, such as those bordering another Canadian province or a U.S. state.
In addition, the fuel tax rate applicable to gasoline delivered within certain regions is increased to help finance public transportation services in those regions. Such an increase applies in:
- the jurisdiction of the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM)
- the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine administrative region (RAGIM)
