Specific Duty on New Tires — Billing

A specific duty is added to the price of new road vehicle tires (excluding retreaded or remoulded tires) with a rim diameter no larger than 62.23 centimetres (24.5 inches).

Use the table below to determine the duty applicable to each tire, according to its overall diameter and effective date.

The duty applies to:

  • new tires you buy at retail in Québec or bring into the province
  • new tires on a designated road vehicle that you buy or lease on a long-term basis (12 months or more) in Québec

This duty also applies to:

  • new tires you buy outside Québec for use in Québec
  • new tires on a road vehicle that you buy or lease on a long-term basis outside Québec for use in Québec

Purpose of the duty

The specific duty is designed to finance the Programme québécois de gestion intégrée des pneus hors d'usage, which is administered by RECYC-QUÉBEC.
