Linguistic Officialization
Linguistic officialization is strategy whereby an organization mandated by the state officially pronounces on the terms and expressions that it would like to promote. In Québec, the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) plays this role under the Charter of the French language.
As part of Québec's civil administration, Revenu Québec must set an example when it comes to the French language. That's why we follow the OQLF's linguistic guidelines in all our communications in French. For more information, see Officialisation linguistique (French version of this page).
While there is no organization for linguistic officialization in English, we are committed to following best practices and using inclusive evolving language in all our English communications.
