Non-Profit Purposes
This term can be used where the purpose of the activity does not consist in:
- realizing earnings
- earning profits
Examples include:
- helping disadvantaged persons or contributing to the general welfare of the community;
- enhancing the quality of community or civic life;
- developing the recreational and cultural life of the community.
Note
An organization whose principal activity consists in carrying on a business is not generally considered to be a non-profit organization.
