Keeping Your Restaurant Establishment’s Information up to Date
Since November 1, 2011, operators of restaurant establishments have been obligated to provide their clients with bills produced by a sales recording module (SRM).
Operators who fail to fulfill this obligation are guilty of an offence and are liable to a fine ranging from $2,000 to $100,000. This is why it is important to notify Revenu Québec of any change related to your restaurant establishment that could prevent you from fulfilling this obligation.
Changes may include:
- an SRM being broken or stolen
- a restaurant establishment temporarily or permanently ceasing its activities
Remember that people who operate restaurant establishments on a seasonal basis must activate their SRMs as soon as they resume their activities.
