Fuel Tax Increase

On April 1, 2011, changes will be made to the following fuel tax rates:

  • the rate of 16.2 cents per litre of gasoline will be raised to 17.2 cents
  • the rate of 17.2 cents per litre of non-coloured fuel oil will be raised to 18.2 cents

Taking inventory

Vendors who sell fuel on which fuel tax was or should have been collected in advance must inventory the quantity of fuel they have in stock at 12:01 a.m. on April 1, 2011, and remit, by April 30, 2011, an amount corresponding to the difference between the tax at the new applicable rates and the tax at the rates applicable before April 1, 2011.

Beginning in mid-March, the above-mentioned vendors will be mailed a form and remittance slip to complete and return: retail dealers will receive form CAZ-14.1-V, Fuel Stock Inventory at 12:01 a.m. on April 1, 2011 (Retail Dealers), while collection agents will receive form CAZ-14.1.P-V, Fuel Stock Inventory at 12:01 a.m. on April 1, 2011 (Collection Officers).
