Revenu Québec Encourages Businesses and Self-Employed People to Use its Online Services to File Their Consumption Tax Returns
Québec, June 25, 2020 – The June 30 deadline for filing consumption tax returns without penalties or interest is fast approaching. To avoid postal delays, Revenu Québec encourages businesses and self-employed people to use its online services.
Revenu Québec offers a number of fast, safe and efficient ways to file consumption tax returns online. Filing online means you don't have to deal with paper files, envelopes and stamps!
With My Account for Businesses, you can enter your data and then check it onscreen, reducing the risk of errors. Then it's just a matter of a few clicks to pay any balance due via a financial institution.
There are four ways to file a consumption tax return:
- Use the File a GST/HST and QST Return express service, which can be accessed using a clicSÉQUR express access code.
- Use software authorized by Revenu Québec for filing GST/HST and QST returns.
- Use the online payment service of a financial institution that lets clients file the return and pay a balance due in one operation.
- Mail the return.
The vast majority (86%) of businesses and self-employed people already file their income tax returns online. It is to their advantage to discover our online services for filing their consumption tax returns, since we are anticipating high demand for our client services in the coming days.
At the end of March 2020, the Québec government announced that no penalty or interest would be imposed on any person filing a consumption tax return by June 30, 2020. This is one of the relief measures put in place by Revenu Québec to make life easier for individuals and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
