Applying for an Authorization Code: the First Step in Shifting to the WEB-SRM
The shift in the restaurant sector is underway. If you operate a restaurant establishment where sales recording modules (SRMs) are still used, you must get Revenu Québec-certified sales recording systems (SRSs) that communicate with the WEB-SRM cloud environment.
Apply for your authorization code now to configure the SRS(s) you'll use in your establishment.
How to get an authorization code
If SRMs are currently used in your restaurant establishment, you already have a mandatory billing file number and don't need to request a new one.
To get only an authorization code, send us the Application to Obtain An Authorization Code for a Restaurant Establishment (FO-350.CA-V). If you need a code quickly, contact us.
We recommend that you apply for an authorization code now to avoid any delays. The code is valid as long as your mandatory billing file is active.
Operator obligations
If you operate a restaurant establishment, food truck or restaurant establishment situated in a theme park or other similar place that was operating before November 1, 2023, you have until May 31, 2025, to comply with the new mandatory billing measures. Effective June 1, 2025, you must:
- Have the required equipment and ensure it works correctly.
- Send the prescribed information using a certified SRS designed to communicate with the WEB-SRM.
- Give every customer a bill or credit note containing the prescribed information, produced using a certified SRS, and keep a copy of the bill or credit note.
For more information, see Shifting to the WEB-SRM in Your Restaurant Establishment.
New operators of restaurant establishments
If you're a new operator covered by mandatory billing measures, you must apply for a mandatory billing file number by:
- submitting the Application to Open, Close or Change an Operator File (FO-350.DE-V); or
- using the register for mandatory billing service in My Account for businesses on our website.
Along with a mandatory billing file number, you'll get an authorization code to configure the SRSs you'll use in your establishment as soon as it opens.
For more information, see Mandatory Billing in the Restaurant Sector.
