September 30 Is Now a Federal Statutory Holiday

Last year, the federal government passed a law making September 30 the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and a federal statutory holiday.

Although the day is not a statutory holiday in Québec, financial institutions will be closed, which will affect some tax deadlines.

If the deadline for a return or payment is September 30, we will extend it to the following business day. Payments from social programs and support payments are not affected and will be made on the usual dates.
