GST: Temporary Interruption in service
As of April 2007, the Canada Revenue Agency will be revamping the computer systems used to administer the goods and services tax (GST) and the harmonized sales tax (HST). The changes are being made to improve service. Over the transition period (March 19, 2007, through April 16, 2007) some of our services may be disrupted.
You can expect a delay with respect to your rebate applications over this period because certain systems will be unavailable. However, credit interest will be calculated accordingly so that you will not be penalized.
Revenu Québec will continue with registration and updating files.
Receipt of payments
Payments will continue to be received throughout the transition period. Consequently, you must continue to file your GST/HST returns and make your payments. No interest or penalties will be applied to payments made within prescribed deadlines.
