Consumption taxes: Paper returns are a thing of the past

It's time for a new way to file

The pilot project carried out last fall with 500 businesses was a resounding success. As a result, we are continuing our efforts to reduce our paper consumption and encourage the use of online services.

We are therefore entering the next phase of the project to prioritize online filing of consumption tax returns. Starting in October, newly registered businesses that have yet to sign up for My Account for businesses will be encouraged to do so and to file their GST/HST and QST returns online.

There are four options for filing your returns:

My Account for businesses

The ideal solution! You can use the services in My Account to:

  • get an overview of your business's tax file
  • sign up for deadline alerts
  • file your business's consumption tax returns
  • pay an amount due

Express service

You can use the express service to file your GST/HST and QST returns for the current period and pay the balance due.

Professional representative

You can have an accountant or tax expert file your returns online.

Financial institution

Some financial institutions have online services for filing returns and paying a balance due.
