Transfer of responsibilities under the Money-Services Businesses Act on September 13, 2021

On September 13, 2021, Revenu Québec will assume responsibility for the application of the Money-Services Businesses Act from the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). The money services covered by this Act are not provided by financial institutions.

Our principal responsibilities under this Act will include issuing the licences needed to operate a money-services business, such as the operation of automated teller machines, and inspecting the affairs of such businesses. We will also be responsible for a public register of authorized money-services businesses, which will be accessible in the new Money-Services Businesses section of our website.

The AMF will continue to assume these responsibilities and deal with client requests until the transfer takes effect. We will implement measures to ensure the continuity of this expertise and client services.

These new responsibilities will go hand-in-hand with the expertise we have gained in our mission to fight tax fraud, tax evasion and money laundering.

Fair. For all.

One vision. Concrete actions.
