Was your secondary residence (cottage) damaged by the floods? If so, you may be eligible for a tax credit!

If you or your spouse paid qualified expenses to restore your secondary residence (cottage) damaged by the severe flooding that hit a number of Québec municipalities from April 5 to May 16, 2017, you could be eligible for the new tax credit for the restoration of a secondary residence.

If you meet all of the eligibility requirements for the tax credit, complete form TP-1029.RE.VA-V, Tax Credit for the Restoration of a Secondary Residence: Application for an Advance Payment, to apply for the advance payment.

The advance payment will be deposited directly into your account.

Regardless of whether you apply for the advance payment or whether you claim the tax credit in your income tax return, the amount to which you are entitled is the same.
