The protection of personal information, including that of our employees, is a top priority at Revenu Québec.
On July 25, Revenu Québec learned that some of its current and former employees' personal information had been leaked. Rest assured that the tax information and other personal information contained in the tax files of individuals outside the organization is in no way affected.
“It's important to me that we protect everyone's personal and tax information, including that of our employees,” said Mr. Gauthier. “This is serious. We're doing everything we can to protect our employees' personal information as well as their privacy."

The first letters were sent on Friday, August 9. It will take a few days to send all of them.
To date, 98% of the letters have been sent. Due to situations such as death and address changes, we have to undertake additional research before sending the remaining letters.
Nearly 23,000 people are affected, including current and former employees of Revenu Québec and individuals employed by some of the its service providers.
Affected people will be informed of the nature of the leaked information in writing only in the coming days.

The organization constantly evaluates and minimizes the risk of any breach in the confidentiality of the information in its possession. A new committee was formed on June 26, 2019, to review procedures and improve existing controls in a view to meeting our commitments to our clients. Other measures to tighten controls on the use of confidential information are forthcoming. We will inform you when they are put in place.
