Collection and use of information within Revenu Québec's online services

Revenu Québec collects confidential information within its online services for citizens and businesses. It uses this information in processing your file, in applying the laws in effect and in administering certain programs.

Revenu Québec may also collect certain information regarding your identity (such as your name, address, telephone number and certain identification numbers). This information allows Revenu Québec to:

  • confirm your identity in its exchanges with you;
  • retrieve the information it needs to process your file;
  • ensure the confidentiality of the information that relates to you.

Information exchanged when you access the website

When you connect to the Revenu Québec website, information is exchanged transparently between your computer and the server. This information, listed below, is used by Revenu Québec for statistical purposes, such as recording the number of visitors to the site and determining which pages are consulted most frequently:

  • the IP address through which you access the site (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet access provider every time you surf the Web);
  • the browser and operating system used to access the site;
  • your date and time of access;
  • the Web pages that you view;
  • the address of any site that led you to Revenu Québec's website.

The use of Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics, a Web audience measurement tool.

To collect information concerning your navigation on this site, Google Analytics uses cookies, which are kept on severs located primarily in the United States. Google may transmit this information to third parties if legally required to do so, or if these third parties process the data on its behalf.

The information collected by the tool are, for example, which pages you consult, the date, time, duration and frequency of your visits and the links on which you click. The type of operating system of your computer and the language used, the name of your Internet service provider and your geographical position (region) are also among the information items collected. Your IP address is also collected, but is anonymized (truncated) to ensure the confidentiality of the information concerning you. The anonymization of an IP address prevents a web surfer from being identified by means of that address.

Google uses the information collected only to produce statistics and reports on navigation on this site, which enables the government to improve its provision of electronic services. Google will in no event relate the information collected on this site with any other data that it stores.

If you wish, you may prevent Google from recording information concerning your navigation by installing on your computer the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on .
