Non-taxable Income

In general, any amount earned, whatever its source, constitutes income. However, the following amounts are non-taxable and should not be included in your income:

  • the value of property received as an inheritance
  • amounts received under a life insurance policy further to the death of the insured
Note
Income earned on non-taxable amounts, such as interest income on an inheritance, is taxable.
