Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Home-Support Services for Seniors
You can apply for advance payments of the tax credit for home-support services for seniors for the 2023 taxation year. That way you will not have to wait until you file your income tax return to claim the tax credit.
You have until December 1 of a given year to apply for advance payments. If you do not apply by that date, you will have to wait until you file your income tax return to claim the tax credit.
The amount of the tax credit remains the same whether you choose to apply for advance payments or to claim the tax credit when you file your income tax return.
Advance payments are made only by direct deposit. Advance payments related to eligible services included in your rent or condominium fees are made every month. Advance payments related to eligible services not included in your rent or condominium fees are made within 30 days following the date we receive the application.
What if you and your spouse are entitled to the tax credit?
If you have a spouse and you are both eligible for the tax credit, only one of you will receive advance payments for the amounts to which you are entitled as a couple.
If you and your spouse live in the same dwelling, file one application for both of you.
If you and your spouse do not live in the same dwelling, you must each file a separate application. We will process the applications together and communicate with whoever is to receive the advance payments.
