A head start for a bright future!

For 10 years now, the Québec Education Savings Incentive (QESI) has encouraged families to save for their children's and grandchildren's post-secondary education.

Help is provided as a refundable tax credit paid directly into a registered education savings plan (RESP) until the calendar year the child turns 17.

To date, over $560 million has been paid to over 950,000 children!

We contribute to your savings!

When you save with an RESP, Revenu Québec contributes an amount equal to 10% of your net annual contributions.

For example, if you contribute $2,500 per year, Revenu Québec will contribute $250. And this doesn't include any additional amounts you may receive based on your family income.

The federal government also contributes to your RESP through programs such as the Canada Education Savings Grant and the Canada Learning Bond.

Note that you can open an RESP for a child you are not related to.

Here's to a great education savings week!

This week raises public awareness of the importance of education savings, the benefits of RESPs and the various government financial incentives available.
