Fees for the Collection of Amounts Due

Under the Act to facilitate the payment of support, the government may in certain cases charge fees for collecting arrears (This link will open a new window) owed by the debtor of support (This link will open a new window) or an amount owed by another person.

The following fees bear interest at the legal rate and are payable even if the support payments are cancelled:

  • A fee of $103 is charged to a person who owes money to us under the Act and has not paid the amount due within 10 days after receipt of a payment order.
  • A fee of $133 is charged if a notice of execution (This link will open a new window) is issued for the first time following a payment order.
  • A fee of $35 is charged to a person who remits an NSF cheque to us.

A fee may be charged with respect to each file for which a person has not paid an amount due.
