Mandatory Billing in the Restaurant Sector

The restaurant sector is a sector of economic activity where considerable tax revenues are still being lost, even though significant measures have been implemented to fight tax evasion. Revenu Québec estimates tax losses to be $417 million for 2007-2008. These losses include approximately $133 million in QST collected by restaurateurs, but not remitted to Revenu Québec, and approximately $84 million in GST.
