Advertising Relating to the GST and QST

Businesses must avoid giving customers the false impression that their purchases are not subject to tax if the goods are in fact taxable (This link will open a new window), or that it is possible not to pay the taxes on taxable goods.

The following are examples of wording that may be used and wording that may not be used.

Acceptable:

• Taxes included
• Taxes not included
• GST and QST not included
• We pay the taxes
• Taxes included in the price

Prohibited:

• Tax-free day
• No taxes
• No GST or QST
• You pay no taxes
