Dependent Child Turns 18

Support payments must continue until the child is both:

• 18 years old; and
• financially independent.

Only a court can determine whether a child is financially independent. Revenu Québec will only cancel support payments for a child 18 or older on receipt of a court judgment authorizing the stoppage.
