Claiming the Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses

You can claim the tax credit for childcare expenses in one of two ways:

Income tax return

If you claim the tax credit when you are filing your income tax return, refer to the guide to the income tax return (TP-1.G-V) and complete Schedule C.

You are not required to submit your official information slip for childcare expenses (the RL-24 slip) or the receipts issued by the person who provided the childcare services. However, you must keep your information slips and receipts in case we ask for them.

Advance payments

If you wish to apply for advance payments of the tax credit using our online service, you must first determine if you are entitled to receive advance payments. To find out if you are, see the page Requirements for Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses.
