Amounts We Collect Under the Support-Payment Collection Program

Revenu Québec collects amounts owed under the support-payment collection program, such as:

Debtor of support

If you must pay support, we can collect it either through source deductions or by means of a payment order.

If your support cannot be collected using either of these methods, or if you still owe support despite one of them being used, we may send you a demand for payment ordering you to pay the support due within 10 days of receiving the demand.

Your cooperation is key if you want to avoid collection measures being taken against you.

Creditor of support

If you receive an amount from us that you were not entitled to, you will have to repay it. We may send you a demand for payment ordering you to repay the amount within 10 days of receiving the demand.

Your cooperation is key if you want to avoid collection measures being taken against you.

Person who makes periodic payments to a debtor of support

If you receive a deduction notice instructing to you to deduct support payments from the amounts you pay a debtor of support, you are required under the Act to facilitate the payment of support to comply with it.

If you neglect or refuse to deduct the amount shown on the notice, you will become solidarily liable with the debtor for the amount. If you neglect or refuse to remit the amounts you did deduct, you become individually liable for them.

In either case, we may send you a demand for payment ordering you to pay the amount due within 10 days of receiving the demand.

Your cooperation is key if you want to avoid collection measures being taken against you.
