Creation of the Direction de la lutte contre les planifications fiscales abusives

In 2009, we created a special administrative unit to fight aggressive tax planning (ATP). The Direction de la lutte contre les planifications fiscales abusives (DLPFA) has the mandate to:

• coordinate activities concerning efforts to combat ATP schemes for the entire organization
• carry out risk analyses
• develop new detection methods
• identify groups at risk
• come up with strategies to curb ATP schemes
• propose amendments to legislation to more effectively combat ATP

The DLPFA is also responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with other Canadian tax jurisdictions to ensure the exchange of information and to develop multi-jurisdictional intervention strategies.
