Penalties and Interest

If you owe money to Revenu Québec, you must pay the debt by the deadline prescribed by law to avoid incurring interest and penalties.

Likewise, Revenu Québec will refund any overpayment you may have made plus interest, if the refund is made after the deadline prescribed by law.

Cancellation of interest, penalties or charges

In specific situations, Revenu Québec may cancel interest, penalties or charges.

Under the GST system, different interest rates are applied to amounts payable or refunds.
