Notice of Objection
If, after contacting Revenu Québec, you are still dissatisfied with the results, you may file a notice of objection in order to contest a notice of assessment or a notice of determination (in respect of a loss, a property tax refund, etc.).
A notice of objection may be filed free of charge and is an essential step as it safeguards your right to appeal. For more information about the co-operative approach proposed, consult the folder Filing an Objection: It's your right. Make it work for you! (IN-308-V).
If, at the time you file a notice of objection, you have a balance owing in respect of the amount in dispute (other than a balance owing in respect of source deductions or consumption taxes), Revenu Québec will not take measures to recover the debt until a decision has been rendered respecting any appeal (or summary appeal) concerning the notice of assessment you are contesting, or until the expiry of the time limit for filing such an appeal. This does not apply in the case of large businesses.
